In 2002 and 2003, Keith was named entertainer of the year by the Academy of Country Music two years in a row.
An update on Keith’s condition was posted on social media.
He is 60 years old now.
On Instagram, he wrote, “I was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall.” “I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery for the past 6 months.”
It’s progressing well so far. I just need to relax, rest, and recover. This is the time for me to be with my family. I will, however, see the fans as soon as possible. “I can’t wait to see them.”
Elaine Schock, Keith’s publicist, said he will not be performing as scheduled “for now.” His latest tour was set to begin this Friday.
‘Old School’ is the top 25 country hit from his latest album, ‘Peso in My Pocket.’
Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted Keith last November. Recent performances by him include the Heroes Honor Festival at Daytona International Speedway.
Famed friends offered their support after Keith revealed his illness.
The country duo Big & Rich tweeted, “Hang in there, @tobykeith.”
“Wishing you much strength and healing my friend!” Hannah Storm, an anchor on ESPN, responded.
